Hiking in Hondarribia - Day Trip

Here's a shot of Hondarribia, a town about 45 minutes by bus outside of Spain. There's a trail that goes from this coastal town back to San Sebastian, but it takes a good 10 hours and so we're hoping to go camping along it if we can find a tent (I left mine back in the US over the holidays, a bad idea in hindsight). On this day we just hiked some of the trail to see what it was like.

This is an example of the trail. Rarely used, with views to the sea almost always. We are definitely coming back here to hike the whole trail.

Here's the problem that all of northern Spain is dealing with right now. Beautiful little ocean coves, covered with blotches of oil from the oil tanker that sank off of the Spanish coast in November 2002. It's terrible. We've put our names in to help, but so far they haven't called us, we don't know why not.

Another shot of the cove, where you can also see several workers in white uniforms cleaning up the cove. This cove was pretty secluded, what they do is drive in with boats, drop the workers off, then come back and pick them up (with their bags and buckets of clumped oil) when they are done. The oil isn't a liquid but more like a fairly-solidified goo, imagine trying to clean up millions of tons of this off all these types of rocks.

Yet another great trail with views like this all the way.

Cool little windblown rock formation, with Jules on top of it.

A spooky tunnel we had to go through to get to the other side of a hill.

A shot looking down to the water, this is one of my favorite photos in this group, I like the contrast of the grass and the water.

This lighthouse marks the end of the trail, pretty impressive cliff that it sits on top off.
