September 29

We're still at Playa Clara, enjoying the great weather and the beach. On this day, Jules and I decided to hike about 2.5 miles to the other side of the Cabo de Gata point, where there was a lone restaurant on the point(we had spied it when first arriving to Cabo de Gata). The only way to get to it is to drive 45 minutes around the point, or to take the foot/bike trail right around the point to it. So we hoofed it, and it was well worth it. A great hike and a beautiful sunset which could only be seen from that side of the point. The restaurant was only open for a couple of hours, but we came at the right time, ate our fill of tapas, and scored a loaf of bread from the owner for the next day.

Here's a view of the beach from our cave. I really like this picture, it gives a great view of the beachside landscape.
Jules and I in the cave. You can't see all of it from this picture, but it was fashioned with a firepit, a shelf, a stone wall to keep the sun out in the morning, and even a makeshift candle lantern that hung from the ceiling. One of the coolest places I've ever camped in.
Here's Jules on our hike to the restaurant. We weren't sure it was going to be open, since it was a Sunday, but there was only one way to find out.
Success! Here's me, sitting at our table, with a spectacular view of the sunset.
Here's another shot of the sunset, including the silouette of people who stopped to gaze as well.
The best shot of the sunset that day.
