October 23

Here's some pictures of a hike we did in the forest in Portugal. By this time Jules and I had figured out that we were going to have to leave for San Sebastian the next day since we were supposed to be meeting two of her other friends there (Annie and Magella). So this would be our last full day of hanging out with Amy, Gareth and Alice. After having such a great time together for almost 6 weeks, this awesome hike was a great ending to the vagabond days of riding in Alice.

Here's the campsite Jules and I pitched, off of a hiking trail near Alice's parking spot. Camping wasn't allowed in the place, so don't tell anybody or we might get in trouble. We cleaned up the litter around the place as payment.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the hike. I like the blurry people in the background (Amy, Jules and Gareth), along with the sunlight and the detail of the branch.

This was a small tower that seemed to be used as a lookout tower or something; it had a small staircase in it that led to the top, but the crucifix made it seem like it had some religous purpose. Whichever way, it gave us a good view of the surrounding countryside.

An attempt to do a macro-closeup of this fern that had drops of rain hanging from its branches. The drops aren't very visible (a tripod would have helped), but it still came out alright.

Here's a panoramic shot from one of the lookout towers that we walked to the top of. A great view, as usual the camera didn't quite capture just how blue the sky was. It tends to overexpose the sky in order to make the landscape clear; I'm playing with ways to override that, but its not possible in panoramic mode.
