The day before we had made our last ride (for now) in Alice; Amy and Gareth had taken us to the train station so that we could go to San Sebastian. It was very strange knowing that the rest of our trip would not be like the last 6 weeks, where we had lived frugally out of a campervan and been able to see more coast than any other way possible. Now it was going to be more of the typical backpacker travels, staying in hostels and doing the more touristy things. One side of me was sad to leave (we never had a bad day with Amy and Gareth), but I was also very excited to finally have the chance to interact with the people and culture of Spain on a more intimate level. Well, thats what I'm hoping for.
So after a night of travelling
on an overnight train with a happy old Portugese man and a very friendly Spanish
woman, Jules and I arrived in San Sebastian. Here we met up with Annie and
Magella, some of Jules' best friends from home. Once again I am surrounded
by Aussies. As a concession I did recently meet a few Americans travelling
independently, backpacking around Europe; that made me feel a bit better.
Now if they were only my best friends, I could be just like Jules.

As noted previously, my camera will often overexpose the background in order to make the foreground bright enough. However this means that the sky will become a white-out, which always bothers me; I want the sky to look just like it did that day. To correct this I just force the flash to fire, which causes the foreground to still be lit (albeit not very naturally) while not over-exposing the background. To most camera buffs this is probably common knowledge but I'm just figuring this stuff out on my own. So this picture is the exact same time and place as the one above, but with better results I think. |
