September 28

We lked Playa de Monsul but we were hoping to find something a bit more remote, and wth a better campsite (we had camped in the parking lot of Play de Monsul). At the end of tdirt road we found exactly what we were looking for. We managed to park Alice right beside a cliff overlooking a cove witha sandy beach. Only 4 or 5 cars showed up the whole time, and this was on a weekend. To make it even better, there was several caves in the hillsde that were vacant, complete with a fireplace, dried grass for bedding, and even a candle or two. Jules and I set up camp in the best one. Why bother with a tent when there's a cave! This was one of the best days of the trip so far. We found a great place to sit beside the beach, the water was amazingly clear and small fish were abundant. Amy and Gareth had two pars of swmming goggles, which we used for snorkelling. Gareth and found some awesome little tunnels below the water that would go under rock and then pop back out on the other side of our little lagoon. I've never seen or swam through anything like that before. To top it off we were visted by cute little mountain goats that were being herded on the hillside. We never found out what the name of the beach was, so I named the place Playa Clara, for the clear water.

Here is a photo of the spot. we ended up staying for 3 days. You can see the cave wall, it's above the van.
Here s a panoramic during sunset of the view we had from outside of Alice.
Here's a closer shot of the cave entrance. In the following days I took a couple pictures of the inside.
Here's our lagoon location where we hung out all day, it was just around the corner from the sandy beach. Secluded and containing little pools that led out into the ocean, great for snorkelling.
Here's one of the pools, with a view of the beach n the background. These are the pools that had amazing under-rock tunnels that connected several of them.
Here's Gareth in the water, giving you a good idea of how clear the water was. The glare from the sun even distorts it in this picture, it was very easy to see right to the bottom..
A cool shot of Gareth swimming into one of the tunnels. All that's visible is his legs and feet.
And here is coming up on the other side. There were colorful harmless sea anemones, as well as prickly cactus-like plants that we had to watch out for.
Back on the beach, goats popped out of nowhere on the cliff wall above us. A funny surprise.
Here's a shot of what seemed to be the granddaddy goat along with a little baby goat.
And here's a shot of the whole herd on the hillside (dangerously close to our cave!)
I also made friends with two guys from Madrid, who camped at the same place for a couple days. They were really friendly and fortunately spoke good English, as my spanish is still very lacking at this point. This is a picture of their 1970 VW van as they drove away.
